What We Do?
In pursuance of our overarching goal and tied to SDG 5 - gender equality, we help to amplify the plight of widows and demand for the recognition of their rights through advocacy, community engagement and mass awareness through traditional and social media campaigns
We believe that widows and their dependant children have a right to live productive and fulfilling even after the death of their breadwinners. We equip widows with skills and tools of trade to become independent and economically engaged. This way, we help provide solutions to SDGs 1 - hunger and 8 decent work & economic growth and
Many widows are pluned into poverty as a result of widowhood. In many parts of Africa, they are denied the rights of inheritance and become unable to provide for themselves and their dependent children. Through our Foodbank Initiative, we help to tackle the issues of poverty SDG 1 and hunger SDG 2
Reports suggest that widows may lose up to 75% of help from family and friends after the loss of their husbands. This often results in self-isolation, loss of confidence and deteriorating health complications. We provide counseling and peer learning opportunities for widows to help build their confidence to lead productive lives

Widows need more support than you may realize. Widowhood is such an intense experience and they often require great support for the widows, unfortunately, the Modern Widows Club, posits that 75% of a widow’s support base is lost.
Widowhood is one of the most difficult life events - Some never recover from the sudden death of a spouse, some suffer varying degrees of emotional or psychological breakdown and in some cases, some die only shortly after the demise of their spouse.
A widow’s finance may drastically change upon the death of her spouse who is the primary breadwinner. Some reports say more than half older widows now living in poverty were not poor before the death of their husbands.
In 2011, the United Nations set aside June twenty-third (23) in annual observance of International Widows Day to draw attention to the voices and experiences of widows to galvanize the unique support they need.
